Diagnostic Clinic Families are often placed on a waiting list when requesting a diagnostic evaluation and wait six months or more. As these families wait, precious intervention time is lost. The clinic will allow for timely multidisciplinary team evaluations of referred children. Treatment Clinic A menu of specialty services will be made available to include (a) medical services, (b) biomedical services, (c) occupational therapy, (d) sensory integration therapy, and (e) speech-language pathology services among others. Pre-school Model Autism Program and Training Site The
model program will provide specialized services to children with autism
alongside typical
children and practical experience to University students who will later
help meet critical shortage of qualified professionals serving children
with autism. The program was conceptualized based on the latest on the
latest autism research and meets the recommendations/priorities set forth
by the National Research Council, commissioned at the request of the
U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education. Early Childhood Model Program Flyer Training Institute The Center will provide on-site tracing to parents and professionals. Included technology will allow for real time viewing of the model programs and diagnostic and other services. The model programs will then serve as demonstration sites providing invaluable experiences to attendees from throughout the United States. Outreach Services In addition to the on-site training, schools and agencies and other organizations will have opportunities for training at their sites based on their identified needs. Other services will include an Ask the Expert interactive web-site for timely answers to specific questions and a Lending Library. School-aged Program Services Services will be individualized and include
after-school social skills and tutoring programs, Sib Shops and more. Respite Center Families will have respite care available at the Center through a variety of programs and camps on weeknights, weekends, and during summer. In-home subsidized respite care will also be available. Behavioral Clinic The Clinic will provide short-term intensive day treatment for individuals needing specific functional behavior assessment and behavioral intervention planning and treatment. Transition/Life Skills Lab An overwhelming 85 percent of working-aged individuals with autism remain unemployed. The transition program will serve as a model program for preparing and placing individuals 16 to 21 years of age in independent employment and living within the community. Adult Service Center Services will be defined based on (a) community-based assessment of available services and (b) community leaders invited input. Family Support Services In addition to the aforementioned services, family support meetings, seminars, in-home technical assistance, and more will be made available. |
